Verizon is now distributing a new update containing bug fixes and new features for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. The installation of this update will allow the tablet to support High Dynamic Range (HDR) transmission on Netflix, while also solving the problem with the fingerprint configuration. This software update also includes the Android security patch of October 2017, which fixes several critical vulnerabilities found in the framework of operating system media. Also, this software update probably includes fixes for six security exploits that are found on Samsung's proprietary skin.

Verizon subscribers can choose from several methods to install the software package. One option is for users to simply wait for a notification to arrive on their devices indicating that the update can now be installed. Another method that the user can select is to manually activate the update process by going to the "Software Updates" menu found in the device configuration. If the customer can not update their devices via mobile data or Wi-Fi (for one reason or another), they can instead connect the tablet to a personal computer and use Samsung's patented software tool to install the update. Before updating the device, it is always good to make a backup of your files and images on a personal computer or on a microSD card to avoid data loss, although the update should not affect your files or the tablet in any way, although there is always a possibility that something goes wrong, of course. The new software compilation can be identified through its firmware version number NRD90M.T827VVRU1AQJ3.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 works with the Snapdragon 820 chipset, which is composed of a 64-bit quad-core Kryo CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. The tablet has a 9.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2048 per 1536 pixels and is compatible with the S-Pen Stylus. Inside the device there are 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal flash storage that can be expanded with a microSD card. The Galaxy Tab S3 has a 6,000 mAh battery to keep the lights on, while the quad speakers are tuned by AKG. The tablet is shipped with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed, although the manufacturer's patented mask runs on the Google operating system. The device, however, is also programmed to receive Android 8.0 Oreo in the future.
