Former US Representative. Basil Gabbard of Hawaii warned that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, is essentially playing with fire, with her recent “within the enemy” comments.
Pelosi told reporters that he felt Congress would need to “grant funding for greater protection for members when the enemy is within the House of Representatives, a threat that members are concerned about.”
The comments were a reaction to the capital riot on 6 January and security measures to protect lawmakers.
Pelosi said to clarify, “It means we have members of Congress who want to bring guns to the floor and have threatened violence on other members of Congress.”

“Such widespread, inflammatory rhetoric is like throwing a match into a tinderbox,” she said.
“What Speaker Pelosi is talking about is a very serious matter. If there is evidence to back what he is saying … true, it is a legal issue for law enforcement.”
Gabbard said a man repeatedly threatened her life while she was in the House, and law enforcement briefly tried and convicted the suspect.
