You can forget the previous Auris, this third generation does not include any element. Developed on the new TNGA generation of the Toyota group (especially used by Lexus compact SUV stand next door), it is 4 cm longer, 3 cm wider and 4 cm lower (L x W x H: 4,37 x 1 , 79 x 1.43 m) than the one it replaces and is based on a wheelbase also stretched 4 cm. What guarantee to this compact sedan of more advantageous proportions and a habitability in progress for the rear passengers.
The visibility to the front should also benefit from a hood which could be lowered by 5 cm thanks to the implantation authorized by the new platform. On the mechanical side, this new Auris is the first to do without any diesel mechanics – a rarity in the segment of compact sedans – and becomes the first Toyota to offer two distinct hybrid versions.
The powertrain 1.8 with a cumulative power of 122 hp already seen under the hoods of Prius and C-HR is, in fact, complemented by a new proposal developed around a new gasoline engine 2.0 liters for a total power of 180 hp. No consumption figure is yet announced for this hybrid version "high performance". The turbo 4-cylinder 1.2 engine of the previous model is renewed at the entry level.
