At Friday’s press conference, Doocy noted that Biden had a list of journalists to call and that Fox News was the only member of the five-channel press group who could not ask the president a question.
“I’m curious if that’s the administration’s official policy,” said Doocy.
“We are here having a conversation, right?” Psaki replied. “And do I answer your questions every time I come to the meeting room? Has the president received questions from you since you took office, yes or no? “
Doocy said that Biden sometimes answers his shouted questions at White House events, but that when Biden has a list in front of him he never calls Fox News, which goes back to the campaign.
“I’m curious what list they give you,” said Doocy. “The only member of the five-network group who was never on it dates back to when he resumed in-person events in Wilmington during the campaign.”
Psaki noted that he takes questions from Doocy every day in the meeting room and appears regularly on “Fox News Sunday.”
“I’d say I’m always happy to have this conversation with you, even about the amazing socks you’re wearing today, and to have a conversation with you even when we disagree,” he said. “The president has answered your questions and I am looking forward to doing ‘Fox News Sunday’ this Sunday for the third time in the last few months.”
Biden answered questions from reporters in 10 different outlets on Thursday during his first press conference as president, but he stayed away from the right-leaning Fox News.
Doocy has become Psaki’s regular sparring partner at daily briefings, challenging the White House with pointed questions on immigration and other hot topics of the day.
The Fox News reporter is also known to try to get Biden to answer impromptu questions at scripted events and to ask questions that other outlets have avoided on topics like the president’s son, Hunter Biden.
