Fortnite v15.50: what to expect

Fortnite v15.40 is expected to release on Tuesday, February 16. Here’s what to expect from the update.

Rumors are spinning when it comes to Fortnite v15.40. Some players, who report having some inside knowledge, have called the content of v15.40, “The most amazing thing ever.”

We don’t know exactly what this means, but we have a couple of ideas. Here’s everything you need to know about the update before the patch notes arrive on February 16.

Error correction

Bug fixes are a natural part of any Fortnite update. We only have a few issues set to be fixed in v15.40, which may not be the main focus of the update.

One item that we don’t see on the list relates to the superhero mask set. In v15.30, Epic attempted to remove the ability for players to wear all-black and all-white superhero skins. However, fans quickly found a solution, prompting Epic to remove skins from competitive modes.

Here are all of the items listed as “Fixed in the next game update” on the Fortnite Community Trouble Trello board.

  • Total bars that appear as 0 in a match.
  • Purple XP coins that disappear when pierced (without granting XP).
  • Matchmaking does not start if an unprepared player leaves early.
  • (Creative) Phone booths do not respect island settings when players change outfits.
  • (STW) The location of a Durrr burger does not count towards the “Location: Burger Break!” Search for companies.
  • (STW) Mythic Lead Survivor portraits only appear as silhouettes.

“The most amazing thing that ever lived”

February 14, data miner ShiinaBR tweeted that a Japanese content creator, urara_123urara, said v15.40 was going to be a “real disaster” and “the most amazing thing ever”.

We don’t know how this creator would know what the v15.40 update has in store for the game, but this led to massive speculation within the community. What could be an amazing addition and a disaster at the same time? We don’t have a real idea.

With FNCS Season 5 underway, it wouldn’t make much sense to completely change the game’s meta. If Epic made a big change, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a Fortnite update mid-tournament.

If something big comes to Fortnite, we expect it to be excluded from competitive modes for the rest of the season.

Weapon / vehicle mods?

Normally, we assume that these leaked features would stick through to Fortnite Season 6. However, with the rumors that this is a massive update, we’re starting to think that we might see weapon and vehicle mods sooner rather than later.

Earlier this year, data miners found files related to weapon and vehicle mods coming to Fortnite in the future. These would be huge for the game, which is why many fans assumed that Epic would wait until season 6.

However, with the v15.40 rumors, these mods are the only major leaks that came to mind. We’ll have to see what happens when v15.40 is released.

Again, we have no idea if weapon and vehicle mods will be coming to Fortnite in v15.40. Common sense dictates that these will be features of Season 6, and we will only include them due to speculation about the impact v15.40 will have on the game.

A weapon without a vault

Epic Games has confirmed that v15.40 will feature a vaulted weapon. We have no idea what this is going to be, but we can guess what most of the Fortnite community probably wants: the pump shotgun.

Other than this weapon, it is difficult to guess which weapon returning we could see. Burst AR may come back, but Heavy AR already fills that slot. We wouldn’t mind if the Burst stayed away for the rest of the season.

If the bomb returns, the shotgun loot pool would be relatively messy. We would have the Charge, Lever-Action, Tac, and Dragon’s Breath shotguns. With all of those options, we’ll probably see the majority of players choosing the Bomb over everything else.

Whatever happens, we’ll be here to cover the changes, fixes, patch notes, and everything else when the new Fortnite update comes out. Make sure to follow us on Twitter @FortniteINTEL so you never miss the latest Fortnite news.
