The latest computer models are bringing a bit more precipitation into the area for Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. This now means that it seems that a fall of plowed snow is more likely, especially far from the coast. The downtown area of Boston may have a coating of a few centimeters, but you will not have to go very far to enter a range of 2 to 5 inches. We will have much more tomorrow morning after the models from one day to the next.
For now, make sure your stakes are in your entrance and the snow plow is ready to go just in case.
There is no doubt that winter came in terms of the weather pattern in southern New England. The cold front that passed off the coast yesterday is now the focal point for a possible storm system on Saturday. The exact track of the storm system will determine how much snow we will get, if any.
The highest probability of the highest precipitation will be over southeastern Massachusetts. As always with these situations, the track may change a bit even tonight and tomorrow, so the forecasts are likely to change. If it's going to snow, the time is from Saturday afternoon until the first part of Saturday night.
This does not seem to be a great storm system. However, since it is the first snow of the season, it will attract a lot of attention. The next loop shows how snow (or mixed rain and snow) would move to the area later on Saturday. Keep in mind that it does not move very far inland as is currently anticipated.
Dry Thursday and Friday
Today we have no weather problems. It will be a generally sunny day with lots of sunshine in the area. If you have not placed bets in the entrance, I will do it today, it will be more difficult since the land freezes and hardens over time.
Behind the small weather event on Saturday, the weather will get drier for Sunday and Monday. There may be another opportunity for more rain or snow from Tuesday to Wednesday. That storm system still does not seem important, but it will usher in the air in the Arctic and temperatures will be well below normal by the end of next week.
The conclusion: cold and snow are predicted. It is December and not only is it expected, but it is also welcomed by many people.
