ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Top health officials in one of Florida’s most populous counties are discouraging parents from hosting birthday parties for their children, no matter what, to prevent new coronovirus outbreaks In an effort.

Health Officer of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, Drs. Raul Pino said half of the 30 attendees at the recent Sweet 16 party in the Orlando area came down with the virus. Last month, an Orange County high school closed for two weeks after students attending a birthday party tested positive for the virus.

“Those parties will not only affect the people participating in that activity, but all other people will also get in touch,” Pino said Thursday at a news conference. “I’m pretty sure nobody wants this to happen. If we do not act responsibly, we will continue to see results. ”

Orange County, which is home to some of the country’s best-known theme park resorts, has seen a moderate rise in virus cases in the past few days.

In recent times, the county’s positivity rate has crossed the 6% limit after being in the 5% range. Pino said that maintaining a positivity rate around 5% makes it possible to contact Trace and isolate people.
