A JetBlue flight from Newark airport to the Dominican Republic was diverted to JFK airport on Sunday morning when some people on board got sick and reported a strange smell, the airline said.
JetBlue Flight 1203 left the Newark International Airport around 6 a.m. and it was supposed to land in Santo Domingo at 10 a.m., according to the airline's flight tracker.
The plane "was diverted to New York-JFK by a large number of precautions after the crew reported that some customers and crew members felt bad," said JetBlue spokesman Claudio Cruz, adding that passengers continued towards the Caribbean nation in a different plane.
According to NBC4, several people on board got dizzy and started vomiting due to a strange smell.
Cruz said the airline did not receive any reports of an unusual smell.
The incident occurred a day after a JetBlue plane in Newark had to be evacuated after a picture of a suicide vest or a person wearing one was photographed by a passenger.
