Almost eight years since he was introduced as head coach at Florida State, Jimbo Fisher was in a different state, with a different backdrop, being welcome in a different soccer program.
On Monday he was at College Station for his introductory press conference as Texas' new head football coach A & M. Fisher resigned from the FSU on Friday.
"You can have the best coaches in the world ld," he said in his opening statement. "But if the administration does not see things as you see things, and allows you to do things that way, you can not achieve anything."
Much was accomplished at Florida State under Fisher's watch. He had six seasons of 10 wins, won three ACC championships, a national championship and had a record record of 29 consecutive victories.
But his team fought mightily in 2017, beginning the No. 3 season in the country just to start the year by losing five of its first seven games. The Seminoles recovered last month to reach 6-6 and maintain the NCAA record-breaking streak.
During the press conference, Fisher said his representatives were contacted for the first time by A & M athletic director Scott Woodward before the Louisiana-Monroe game.

"I never intended to leave Florida State," said Fisher. "After Scott contacted me, and I saw his vision and researched the resources at A & M, it was a truism, there was an opportunity and a challenge here that he just could not let go"
He added: "I know this We're in one of the toughest football divisions, that's the challenge I like, that's where I want to be, I want to take Texas A & M where we have not been, and that's the SEC championship. the national championship. "
Fisher, who received a 10-year, $ 75 million contract from Texas A & M, was asked if he plans to retire at College Station.
"That's the goal," he said. Autoplay
