Federal authorities arrested two Kentucky men related to the far-right extremist group Boogaloo Bois, one of whom was charged in connection with a riot that broke out in Louisville, Ky., On January 6.
According to a release Department of Justice (DOJ) John Subleski, 32, and Adam Turner, 35, were arrested Thursday by the Louisville Division of the FBI.
Subleski is charged with “using an interstate commerce facility” to incite a riot and “committing an act of violence to promote a riot.” According to a criminal complaint referenced by the FBI in the press release, in concert with the riots that occurred in the U.S. Capitol On January 6, Subleski sparked a riot in Louisville, Ky., And reported through social networks that it was “LMPD storm hour.”
Subleski’s group is also accused of pointing firearms at the driver of a vehicle, blocking intersections and barricades on various roads. The complaint alleges that later that night, the man is seen in a video firing his weapon at a vehicle that passed through the group’s barricades. He then fled the scene.
Subleski is a member of a militia called the “United Pharaoh’s Guard,” which lines up with the Boogaloo Bois, according to the Justice Department.
According to the DOJ, Turner, who also identifies himself as part of the UPG, confronted a police officer while traveling through St. Matthews, Ky., During a protest caravan on December 25. The DOJ said that during the confrontation, Turner carried an “AR Pistol” and another pistol. He was eventually arrested for “threatening and resisting arrest.”
Turner made several posts on social media after the arrest on Facebook and Twitter and continued to threaten police officers, according to the Justice Department.
Both Subleski and Turner are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 17. They face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $ 250,000.
