Braves Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox was taken to an Atlanta hospital on Tuesday night after suffering a possible stroke. WSB-TV reported for the first time that Cox was sick and was taken to the hospital for a possible stroke. That report was later confirmed by Mark Bowman of MLB.com.
The family of Cox and the Braves issued statements on Wednesday afternoon.
Declaration of the Cox family:
"We want to thank everyone who sent their good wishes or said a prayer. We know the power of Braves Country and hope that those positive thoughts and prayers continue as Bobby recovers. You do not know how much your support for Bobby and our family means "
Declaration of the Atlanta Braves:
"We do not know anyone stronger or more determined than Bobby Cox. Our thoughts and prayers are with him as he recovers. We hope to see you soon and we would like to thank the baseball community for coming together to support our dear friend. "
Cox participated in the pre-match ceremonies before Monday's home game against the Cubs.
