Elian Huang, Taiwanese actor and singer, dead at 36

According to Taiwan’s State Central News Agency (CNA), the former host of the variety show “100% Entertainment” was found unresponsive by his father in his apartment in the capital Taipei at around 11pm local time on Wednesday.

The CNA told police that Huang’s father had gone to the apartment when he was unable to reach his son by telephone.

The director of the Qian Police Station of the Betau branch of the Taipei City Police Department said in a press conference that the fire department responded to the death in a building near Sneh Street.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the former “100% entertained” host’s body still running with water in the bedroom, outside the bathroom entrance.

The cause of death is not yet known. The CNA said an autopsy was scheduled for Friday.

Police said Huang – known to fans as the ‘Little Ghost’ – returned home Tuesday night and did not leave, according to the agency.

Huang – Born Huang Hong Sheng – “Follow Me, Go!” Known for hosting a nature show for children. Before joining the Japanese-Taiwanese boy band HC3. In 2003, after the band broke up, he joined another boy band, “Cosmo.”

As a solo artist, he released five albums and several singles.

He starred in TV dramas including “Love You” and “Mysterious Incredible Terminator”, before appearing in films that included the Singapore comedy “Allredie Famous” and “Din Tao: Leader of the Parade”.

“Already Famous” director Michelle Chong led an online tribute to Huang, sharing a photo collage with the pair, as well as the caption: “Unbelievable. You’ll always be the first leading man in my life. RIP.”
