Elden Ring: Leaked Trailers, Rumors, and Everything You Need to Know

Of software

Here’s the tone of Elden Ring – You need the playability of Dark souls and mixes it with the storytelling and the construction of the world of game of Thrones. The nextPlaystation 4, Xbox One and the PC game are being developed by FromSoftware, the studio behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne, with the help of George RR Martin himself.

We don’t know much about the title. Elden Ring was announced in 2019
, but we’ve heard little about it since. However, interest in the game has increased thanks to a newly leaked trailer and a number of details that have yet to be confirmed by FromSoftware.

What do we know for sure?

Elden Ring was unveiled at E3 2019, and a trailer was shown during the Microsoft conference. It depicts a brutal and gritty fantasy setting as a narrator explains that chaos has occurred since “someone or something” broke the Elden Ring. But we got few details aside from the guarantee that the game would be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. No release window was given.

In an interview published on the official Xbox site during E3 that year, FromSoftware president and Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki released more details. Development of the game began in 2017 after the release of Dark Souls 3’s Ringed City DLC and will be a third-person RPG with more RPG elements than action.

“This title will include a wide variety of weapons, magic and ways of dealing with enemies, which will make it possible to provide users with a style of play and strategy that suits them,” Miyazaki said at the time. “Even compared to the Dark Souls series, I think this title will provide even more variety in the ways for players to overcome challenges and modify their tactics when facing enemies.”

Later in the interview, he noted that the biggest difference between Elden Ring and Dark Souls is that the next title will be open world.

What is George RR Martin’s involvement?

Miyazaki and the FromSoftware team are responsible for writing the Elden Ring narrative, but they outsourced the world, lore, and myths to Martin. Since Elden Ring is a much bigger game than Dark Souls, world building is more crucial than in previous FromSoftware titles. A bigger game needs more characters, cultures, and places, and Martin was recruited to make them more meaningful.

“[Martin’s] The myths proved to be full of interesting characters and drama along with a plethora of mystical and mysterious elements as well. It was a wonderful source of encouragement for me and the development staff, “said Miyazaki.” The world of Elden Ring was built using these myths and stimuli as a basis. Even I myself find it difficult to contain my excitement from time to time. “

In a later interview, Miyazaki added that the people who worked on the TV show Game of Thrones also helped build the world of Elden Ring.

What has been leaked?

After more than 18 months of near radio silence, which was a particular disappointment at last year’s Game Awards, a preview of Elden Ring leaked in early March. A 112-second watermarked clip shows more of the world of the Elden Ring and the demonic creatures that inhabit it. More importantly, it showed glimpses of combat in the game, even on horseback.

The leak drove Dark Souls fans crazy. The community gathered clips from different leaks and even upped the footage to HD. The footage is reported as of 2020. An unverified industry insider with a reliable leak history has said the trailer was for internal purposes. Additionally, they added that Elden Ring will have player versus player multiplayer as well as an in-game weather system.

When will the game come out and reach PS5 and Xbox Series X | Yes?

The answer to both questions is that nobody knows. The Elden Ring was speculated to launch in 2020 and then 2021. Complications from COVID-19 have been reported to have disrupted development, causing delays. In short, the Elden Ring release date is “TBA”.

Regarding PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | Yes, it seems very likely that the game will appear on the new consoles, even if it is only the PS4 / Xbox One / PC version that runs smoother and with higher resolution. That said, this has also not been confirmed.
