WWE Hall of Famer Edge recently stated that Brock Lesnar shouldn’t have been the one to break The Undertaker’s legendary undefeated streak at WrestleMania.
Edge recently had a chat with Sports Nation and spoke about Brock Lesnar breaking The Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania in 2014. He recalled how he refused to end the streak at WrestleMania 24 in 2008 and made it clear that Roman Reigns should have been the chosen one. .
“I think it should have been saved for someone you want to tie the rocket to. And you know and trust and you’re going to like it … for me, Roman Reigns was the type to do it. And that’s where it should have been done. I know that I understand it’s credible to do it, but okay, great, this is professional wrestling. It’s not MMA. So for me, you do it with the character that you think is going to pull for the next 10 to 15 years. “
Edge headlined WrestleMania 24 with The Undertaker
Edge had established himself as a megastar on WWE TV when 2008 rolled around. At the time, he was the best on WWE SmackDown and sparked a heated feud with The Undertaker for the World Championship.
The duo wrestled in the show’s main event and there were moments in the match where WWE led fans to believe the streak would end that night. The Undertaker eventually defeated Edge to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
The Undertaker’s streak was finally snapped at WrestleMania 30 by archrival Brock Lesnar. The huge victory made Lesnar possibly the most dangerous entity in WWE history.
He then went on to crush WWE legend John Cena at SummerSlam 2014 to win the WWE Championship. Lesnar was used regularly on the WWE main event scene for years following his win over The Undertaker.
Do you agree with Edge’s take on Brock Lesnar breaking The Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania? What would your reaction have been if Roman Reigns was the one to break it?
