The Philadelphia Eagles finally made a move with Vinny Curry.
Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reports that the Eagles are releasing the defensive lineman, according to an informed source of the decision.
Curry did not want to receive a salary cut to stay in Philadelphia and the team could not find a business partner.
Cutting Curry saves the Eagles $ 5 million in the salary cap. The 29-year-old had a trigger in his contract that would have guaranteed him $ 5 million of his $ 9 million base salary on Sunday.
A movement with Curry is expected for weeks. With Philadelphia adding Michael Bennett through the trade and Haloti Ngata in free agency, Curry became the stranger.
In his first season as a full-time starter, Curry compiled 42 tackles and three sacks as an inside runner in 2017. Curry refused to restructure his contract with Philadelphia in part because he believes he can make good money in the open market. There's a good chance he's right.
Curry now ranks 18th in Around the 101 Top Free Agents in the NFL in 2018.
