Dr. Ashish Jha: “We have not rounded a corner on the Cornerovirus vaccine”

Attributed to nearly 200,000 US deaths Coronavirus epidemic, A prominent public health researcher said it would be “worthwhile better” before life in some parts of the United States, and disputed President Donald Trump’s recent public claims that we “round a corner” upon receiving a vaccine ” are doing.

Dean of Brown University’s School of Public Health, Drs. Ashish Jha said on “CBS This Morning” on Monday that he was a Dr. Anthony agrees with Fauci, who said in an interview that America may not be normal until the end of the next. year.

“We haven’t ’rounded a corner,” Dr. Jha told co-host Gayle King. “I think we’re going to have some very difficult months ahead. I believe 2021 will be better. And from spring to summer of ’21, I think life in many parts of the country will be worthwhile.” But we still have it. Several months to go, and I’m worried that if we take our eyes off the award we may see a lot of infections. ”

Co-host Anthony Mason asked, “Pfizer’s CEO, who was on ‘Face the Nation’ Said that there is a 60% chance that the company will know by the end of October if its vaccine works. What do you make of it, and what can it mean? ”

“I’m really optimistic about a timeline that we have vaccines that are safe and effective this fall, but we don’t know what is motivating her to say so,” Dr. Jha said. “One of the things I’ve called for, and called others, is that vaccine manufacturers should make their protocols and their research and their statistical plans fully public so that we can understand what it is to say. What is motivating, what is the underlying assessment and without it, it is very difficult. ”

“If it does, however, if we get a successful vaccine by fall, how long will it be before people actually get vaccinated?” Asked Mason.

Dr. Jha said, “We are going to make hundreds of crores of supplements. Some of them are already being made. But even after we make them, it will take several months to deliver them. You know.” I always say that vaccines do not save lives, get vaccinated. It would take us well into 2021 before most vaccines for Americans. ”

Dr. Jha was also asked Late-stage trials of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, Which recently came to grips when a participant developed symptoms of a rare neurological disorder.

Dr. Jha said tests are resuming in at least two countries, but not in the US.

“One of the things that is not clear is what happened that led to the stagnation, and why things started up again,” Dr. Jha said. “And I think it’s really important for AstraZeneca, and researchers, to be transparent with the people of Great Britain, Great Britain about what has really happened, so we can all have more confidence in the process is.”

“Looks like it’s a political hot potato,” King said. “Why do you think it’s so important that they’re transparent and tell us all the details, and why Will not done They told us its details? ”

“We need [a vaccine] To be safe and effective, “Dr. Jha replied.” You know, all this stuff does not always appear, usually in normal times – it is ultimately reported to the FDA. But these are not normal times. And so, given how much attention we are paying to everyone, I think it is important for investigators to make all of this completely public. “
