President Donald Trump continued his months-long criticism of the NFL with another tweet on Wednesday morning.

"At least 24 players are kneeling this weekend in NFL stadiums that are now having a hard time filling," Trump wrote on Twitter. "The American public is fed up with the lack of respect that the NFL is paying to our country, our flag and our national anthem, weak and out of control!"

It's the fourth time in eight days that the president has tweeted about the NFL.

At least 24 players kneeling this weekend in the NFL stadiums they are now having trouble filling. The American public is fed up with the lack of respect that the NFL is paying to our country, our flag and our national anthem. Weak and out of control.

The Associated Press reported that 23 NFL players protested during the national anthem before the Sunday afternoon games sitting, kneeling or raising a fist. Demonstrations began last season with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who knelt during the national anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality in the United States.

The protests have attracted the wrath of Trump, who sees them as disrespectful and unpatriotic. Just in the last week, Trump described the NFL on Twitter as "hemorrhaging" and claimed that the protests are "killing (the league)." He has also been critical of commissioner Roger Goodell for not punishing the protesting players.

At a rally in Alabama at the end of September, Trump came to describe the players who demonstrated with an expletive.

"Would not you like to see one of these NFL owners, when someone does not respect our flag, say:" Take that child out of the field right now ", said Trump.
