Matt Lauer transformed into country music legend Dolly Parton on the Halloween episode of the “Today” show on Tuesday with her help and a few essential props.
“Are you okay with this?” Lauer asked Parton when she popped into his dressing room behind the scenes of the NBC show. “Am I okay with it?” Parton replied, “I’m gonna teach you how to do it!”
Parton introduced Lauer to her “Dolly Starter Kit,” a hot pink suitcase packed with Dolly essentials like a voluminous blonde wig, a black, bejeweled bra top and “bad tube,” a device that strongly resembles a bike pump to, according to Dolly, “pump them up,” a “Botox gun” (or caulk gun) and an industrial-sized tub of makeup.

To Lauer’s horror, Parton brought with her a pair of black platform, stiletto pumps for him to walk in “very carefully, because you can kill yourself,” she said, and taught him how to walk with a “hillbilly swag…like a bady drag.”
The talk show host’s transformation was complete with a healthy dose of hair spray, fake eyelashes and a “Dolly beauty mark.”
Stars celebrate Halloween 2017
This isn’t the first time Lauer payed homage to a woman for the holiday. In 2000, Lauer wore a replica of Jennifer Lopez’s famous plunging-V, green and blue Grammy Awards dress. He was a denim mini skirt-wearing Paris Hilton in 2004, carrying a tiny dog around Rockefeller Plaza. In 2013, he rocked a red one-piece bathing suit and ran in slow motion as Pamela Anderson’s famous character C.J. from “Baywatch.” And in 2015, in Lauer’s creepiest portrayal of a woman to date, he was Lucy van Pelt from “Peanuts.”
