“Carl often buys me things like aprons or oven mitts. People laugh when they know. They ask, ‘What is your husband getting you?’ It will be a diamond ring! But he buys me what he knows I really want, ”he said. Her husband of over 50 years also keeps the love alive by writing poems to his wife, while he writes them songs.

“I’ll still try to make Christmas special this year,” she said. “I have many sisters and many nieces and nephews who live in nearby Nashville, so I hope to be able to spend Christmas with a limited amount of family.”

In an interview with Elle, Parton explained why he decided that 2020 was the right year for another collection of holiday songs.
