Meghan Markle has recently been accused of stealing a quote from a popular Netflix document during an event.
The former actress and her husband Prince Harry have been subject to criticism for one reason or another after their royal wedding.
The growing media scrutiny was cited as one of the reasons the couple decided to step down from their roles as senior ambassadors and settle in the United States.
But the couple is still the focus of media and people are fond of the royal family.
Critics of the Duchess of Sussex are now accused of “stealing” a quote from a Netflix documentary during a discussion at Fortune’s most powerful female Next Gen Virtual Summit.
According to Express.co.uk, royally obsessed podcast hosts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie discussed the recently received royal backlash.
“Meghan mentioned that when we are on social media we are considered ‘users’, and only the second time you are called a user, that is in the context of addiction.”
He further told his listeners, “They actually received a lot of criticism for saying that because it’s drawn almost directly from Netflix’s documentary, ‘The Social Dalma’. They definitely say that users think there.”
Defending Meghan Markle, Roberta Fiorito said: “She received criticism online for using that, but many people have used it before.”
“I think Harry also said in a conversation that he deals with social media addiction and stuff like that. So it’s definitely nothing new for him.
“I don’t think it was warranted to criticize that he robbed it or whatever it might be.”
According to Express.co.uk, the Duchess said: “People who are addicted to drugs are called users and those who are on social media are called users.”
