The mother of the child gave birth to twins on Thursday at Max Super Hospital Specialty in the Indian capital of New Delhi.

Doctors said that one of the twins, a baby, had been born dead. Initially they said the boy was in critical condition, but two hours later he was pronounced dead, told CNN Praveen Malik, the twin's grandfather.

The parents were on their way to a place of cremation when they noticed "some movements" inside one of the polyethylene bags that the hospital gave them with the bodies of the babies.

"When we opened the bag, we found the child breathing in. He surprised me, I could not believe what I was seeing," Malik said.

The child is being treated in a nursing home in New Delhi. His grandfather said that the relatives do not know if he will survive.

"We do not want to have our baby in the Max hospital, we do not trust the doctors there," Malik said. "They betrayed us."

In a statement, the hospital said that hospital staff "delivered the child without any signs of life."

"We are shocked and worried about this rare incident, we have started a detailed investigation, pending which, the doctor in question has been asked to leave immediately We are in constant contact with the parents and we are providing all the support necessary, "the statement said.

The State Health Minister, Satyendar Jain, tweeted that he had ordered an investigation "in this unacceptable act"

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, also tweeted that the authorities would take the "most forceful measure" if someone is found guilty.

"We want the Delhi government to take strict measures against the hospital authorities for their negligence," said the boy's grandfather.
