In April, word surfaced that A. Doggie hawser The reboot worked at Disney +. The original series starred Neil Patrick Harris as a teenage genius and medical doctor, and ran for 97 episodes from 1989 to 1993. This new version will retain the “Teen Genius” concept, but will change everything else about it, including the setting. Find details below.
Doogie Kamealoha, MD Set in modern day Hawaii (already a big inning from the original show’s La stomping grounds), and Lahela “Doggie” Kamiloha, “a mixed-race 16-year-old girl, a budding medical career and a life-run as a teenager.” Guiding Lahla (and complicating things) is his family, including his spit-headed Irish mother, who is also his supervisor at the hospital, and his Hawaiian ‘local boy’ father struggling to accept That his daughter is no longer his little girl. ”
Disney + has ordered ten episodes of this new version of the show for its first season. This series is being led Courtney Kang, Who was formerly a writer / producer like Show How i met your mother (In which OG Dogi acted himself) and fresh off the boat. The original series, which turned NPH into a household name and put the word “doggie” into cultural jargon, often dealt with major issues despite its far-reaching premise: episode homophobia, sexism, racism, body issues, and aging. Under the Disney + umbrella, it seems that this new series may address similar topics that were similar to ABC’s old TGIF lineup used to handle things, such as shows Boy Meets World Comedy often mixed with heavy drama moments.
Personally, I doubt that a new Doggie hawser There is something that will attract an oversized Disney + audience. Just because something has a brand identity, it doesn’t mean that it’s always ripe for a new version, and news like this – having some creative potential, of course – just makes me wish that Kang could have developed a series about a teenage talent who had nothing to do with Doogie Howser “The Brand.”
Jake Kasdan (Jumanji: welcome to the jungle) And their productive partners Melvin mar The 20th is the executive producing the series for television, and production to be received later this year. Doogie Kamealoha, MD Will premiere on Disney + sometime 2021.
