ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – The Adams County Sheriff's Office says a deputy was gunned down near 88th Avenue and Dawson Street near Washington Avenue.
They say officers responded to an assault on Dawson Street before 7 pm
When they arrived, a suspect ran away and officers began to look for him.
Later they contacted a man who agreed with a descriptions of the suspect Authorities say that the man fled from them and took them behind a house. When the agents reached him, the suspect pulled out a pistol and fired at the agents.
A bullet hit an agent in the chest that finally killed him. The suspect ran away again.
Authorities say that two suspects are still at large and considered dangerous. They are described as light-skinned men or Hispanics who wear all black. Another suspect is in custody.
The deputies ask the public to stay away from the area and away from the doors and windows.

"Tonight we saw a community on the edge and a sheriff's deputy was shot while answering a call in Adams County. To know that the deputy has died from the injuries sustained in the shooting, our thoughts and prayers are with the Adams County Sheriff's Office and the family and friends of the assassinated assassin, the investigation continues and the authorities continue working to restore calm in the area "
