Tuesday’s fight between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Toronto Raptors featured a heated fight between the two teams that resulted in the expulsion of Montrezl Harrell and OG Anunoby.
Dennis Schroder, the guy who started it all, has spoken about the incident while sharing his thoughts on the matter after the game (h / t Mike trudell Spectrum SN):
Schroder called the incident with the reaction of Anunoby and OG “unnecessary”. He fouled him hard to avoid points, but held him up to make sure he didn’t get hurt. He said OG didn’t “need to go to WWE” with that.
Schroder appreciated Harrell, which he told him in the locker room.

Schroder fouled Anunoby quite heavily on a counterattack play, which the latter clearly made an exception. Anunoby ended up taking down Schroder, resulting in Harrell rushing to help his teammate. Naturally, players from both teams got involved and some of them had to separate. In the end, Anunoby was thrown for his WWE-style tackle on Schroder, while Harrell’s expulsion was due to his exuberant reaction.
The good news for the Lakers is that they escaped with a 110-101 win over Toronto. It was a concerted effort by a slim Los Angeles team, with no fewer than seven players hitting double digits in scoring. Talen Horton-Tucker had 17 points off the bench with four rebounds and six assists.
The Lakers are off Wednesday before taking on the Miami Heat on Thursday. The defending champs then face the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday in a matchup between the two favorites for this year’s title. However, both teams will be understaffed, so it may not be the championship preview that most of us were hoping for.
