Delight yourself in this American horror story of the 1980s: 1984 First Looks

Ahs 1984 Emma Robert, Deron Horton, Cody Fern, Billie Lourd

Gird up your loins, American horror story Fans: the first images of season nine of the horror anthology series have landed and are (summer) campy like all hell. The new season, subtitled. 1984, seems to take place in a summer camp in the 80s. This is clearly a tribute to the classic slasher films of the time, such as the Friday the 13th Y Outdoor camp film series This genre full of horny teens and men in short shorts has been faked in countless movies, from Wet American hot summer to The final girls.

Now it seems that Ryan Murphy and company are testing the beloved genre. In an Instagram post, Murphy wrote: "To celebrate the first day of filming the AMERICAN HORROR STORY NINTH Season, here is the official 1984 cast announcement along with some incredible comics from the '80s. Enjoy it!" He then posted a series of camera tests with the cast:

The cast includes a mixture of AHS veterans and newcomers, who dance and pose for the success of Dan Hartman in 1984 "I Can Dream About You". Returning players include Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, Leslie Grossman and Billie Lourd. The newcomers Matthew Morrison (Joy), DeRon Horton (Dear white people), Angelica Ross (Attitude), Zach Villa (Shameless), and the Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy, who looks a lot like Richard Madden.

The gang appears in a variety of 80s looks with winks at the archetypes of the day: Emma Roberts as the good-looking good girl, Billie Lourd as the bleached blonde rock girl, Kenworthy as the athlete. The camera is given much time to the prominent bulk of Morrison's crotch. Not much is known about his characters, other than Ross, who wears a stethoscope, so I guess it's the camp nurse. John Carroll Lynch also appears as a murderer, but he would expect nothing less from the man who gave us Monsters showIt's terrifying Twisty the clown.

Apparently absent are AHS All stars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who have appeared in all seasons of the series. Paulson is supposed to have a dramatically reduced role, partly to head Murphy's next Netflix series Lined, which will tell the story of the origin of the infamous nurse Ratched from One flew over the cuckoo's nest. It is not yet known if Peters will appear or not.

Unfortunately, the queen bee of AHS, Jessica Lange, will not participate, since she has retired from the program. While she repeated it Murder house paper in Apocalypse For a cameo, she has no plans to return. However, if these first looks are something for which to pass, we are in a season of comedians and dark comedians of AHS, also known as my favorite version of the series.

American horror story: 1984 opens on September 18 in FX.
