Darrelle Revis on return: I was dusting the cobwebs

For most, it looked like the Kansas City Chiefs had sent Darrelle Revis in the second half of Sunday's loss to the New York Jets. Coach Andy Reid, however, explained that he sat on the veteran's corner because Revis reached an instant count.

"I got it in the second half just because of the number of plays," Reid said after the 38-31 loss, through the Kansas City star. "He had up to 39 snapshots, and that's enough for him, he's going back to the game."

Revis played in his first game since signing with the Chiefs last month. He appeared for the last time in a game on January 1 for the Jets.

"I was trying to dust cobwebs," said Revis. "I have not played in 12 months, so I'm going back to the mix of things."

Revis did not play well in his first game in the Chiefs' uniform. He made five tackles, but missed two others, and he struggled to stay with Speedy Robby Anderson and Jermaine Kearse in coverage.

Revis's struggles seemed to justify taking a seat in the second half. After all, if he was playing well in a game K.C. he needed to win to stop his downward spiral, surely Andy Reid would not have kept him tied to the bank, right?
