Daniel Flores, a 17-year-old prime prospect for the Boston Red Sox, died Wednesday from problems throughout most cancers therapy.

It was not clear what kind of most cancers the younger, Venezuelan catcher was recognized with. The Red Sox didn’t instantly touch upon what most cancers Flores died from.

Flores was signed by the group in July and was thought of one of the promising younger gamers within the Red Sox group, though he had not but performed in a minor league recreation.

The Red Sox signed Flores for $three.1 million, making him the third-highest-paid Venezuela prospect ever, MLB.com reported.

MLB.com listed Flores because the second-best prospect within the Red Sox system and famous he was probably a number of years away from taking part in within the mbadive league.

“Everyone in the Red Sox is shocked to hear the news of Daniel’s tragic death,” President Dave Dombrowski mentioned in a press release. “To see the life of a young man that was such a big promise cut off is very sad for all of us. On behalf of the Red Sox organization, I would like to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to Daniel’s family.”

In one other badertion, Deputy General Manager Eddie Romero mentioned that Flores was liked by all of the members of the group who got here to know him.

“He had a lot of energy, was hardworking and genuinely lacked any selfishness. He always had a smile on his face,” Romero mentioned. “He cared about his teammates and was a pure chief. I am lacking the phrases immediately. Daniel was an superior younger man with limitless potential.”

Flores is survived by his mom and a sister.

Flores’ dying comes sooner or later after the sudden dying of retired star pitcher Roy Halladay, who died in a aircraft crash Tuesday on the age of 40.
