Following Alex Trebek’s death in November, famed contestant Ken Jennings took over as guest host for a six-week period. When Jennings’ time as a host came to an end, a new acting host took the lead in the form of the show’s executive producer, Mike Richards.
By appearing on the popular game show, the 45-year-old quickly captured the hearts of “Jeopardy!” fans with his charming personality, warm voice, and flawless charisma, ultimately leading to a great deal of support online, with many calls to make Richards the show’s permanent host.

In an interview with USA Today, Richards revealed that he was unfamiliar with the “Jeopardy!” presenting concert “up to three days before” the shooting.

“I didn’t know I was going to do it until three days before, so I hadn’t prepared to host the way I know other guest hosts are doing,” Richards said in the interview. “So there was a lot to unpack.”
“Also, I had only one suit too, so there was a bit of a stir there,” the host humorously recalled. “It was a lot of fun; the humiliation doesn’t begin to describe the feeling. Richards, who has also served as executive producer on “The Price is Right” and “Let’s Make a Deal,” is a veteran of the game show industry. In addition to his production credits, Richards has hosted game shows such as GSN’s “The Pyramid” and “Divided.”
