More than 1.58 million people passed through TSA checkpoints on Friday. That’s the most people who have traveled in a single day since the pandemic began.
It came on the same day that the CDC announced that fully vaccinated Americans can travel with “low risk to themselves.”
However, the organization still asks people not to travel, unless necessary.

New York Vaccination Update
Governor Cuomo announced Sunday that 1 in 3 New Yorkers have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine and that 1 in 5 is fully vaccinated.
Cuomo said 187,964 doses have been administered in the state’s vast distribution network in the last 24 hours, and more than 1.4 million doses have been administered in the last seven days. The week 16 allocation of 1,389,705 first and second doses is expected to finish arriving on Sunday.
“With universal vaccine eligibility going into effect this week in New York, our goal is to continue to receive as many gunshot vaccines as quickly and equitably as possible,” Cuomo said.
In Easter address, Pope calls wars in pandemic ‘scandalous’
Pope Francis has used his traditional Easter speech to denounce as “scandalous” that the war continues and military arsenals are growing fat around the world as the coronavirus pandemic causes social and economic suffering.
Francis softened his speech on world affairs on Easter Sunday with wishes for joy along with accounts of pain from the many armed conflicts and other sources of violence in the world. He also appealed to the international community to overcome delays in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines and ensure that supplies reach the poorest countries. For the second Easter in a row, the Pope read his address from inside St. Peter’s Basilica rather than outdoors to deter the crowds in St. Peter’s Square.
Europe raises vaccines as virus stalks Easter holidays
Thousands of people in France are spending the Easter holidays lining up for COVID-19 injections as the government tries to speed up vaccines amid a new surge in infections.
In Lyon, a football team opened its stadium over the holiday weekend as a mass vaccination center and provided 200 volunteers to help medical workers. But as Europe faced its second consecutive Easter Sunday under the cloud of the pandemic, some French cities rejected President Emmanuel Macron’s insistence on getting vaccinated over the long holiday weekend. Spain, Italy and Germany maintained some vaccination centers but others closed for holidays.
Easter celebrations in New York
Things will look a little different this year in New York City for Easter Sunday due to the coronavirus pandemic. The annual Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival on Fifth Avenue will go virtual for a second year, while COVID-19 security protocols will be in effect for Sunday Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
PA loosen restrictions, but changes do not apply to Philadelphia
People who live in Pennsylvania can also expect a reduction in restrictions. Starting Sunday, Keystone State restaurants can increase their capacity to 75%. The changes for restaurants do not apply to Philadelphia, where there has been an increase in COVID rates and hospitalizations. It is estimated that 50 percent of the population of that city will be vaccinated by April 30.
Britain to test virus certificates for events
Britain’s government plans to test a coronavirus status certification scheme in the coming months to allow for the safe return of mass gatherings at venues such as sports fields and nightclubs. Officials are expected to consider passports that show whether a person has received a vaccine, recently tested negative for the virus, or has immunity due to having tested positive in the previous six months.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will not implement stricter restrictions despite the rise in new COVID cases in her state, citing instead the need for residents to follow proper health guidelines.

Can I continue to transmit the coronavirus after receiving the COVID vaccine?
