Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:
Thirty-seven new cases of COVID-19 occurred today. The previously recorded case was determined to be duplicate, so the total number of Humboldt County residents who tested positive is now 2,494.
On Thursday, about 260 people were vaccinated at the public health clinic, which today only has more than 400 appointments. Next week, Public Health hopes to vaccinate an additional 1,350 people at its clinics. Local health care providers also continue to access and prescribe immunizations for their patients, including Phase IA health care workers and those 75 and older.
The Humboldt County Joint Information Center is currently testing an online interest form for individuals who wish to be notified when vaccination appointments are available for their priority group. The form is expected to be officially launched on Monday afternoon.
Humboldt County Public Health Director Michelle Stephens said, “This interest form is another step toward expanding vaccine outreach to more members of our community as we plan for additional groups and clinics, but how soon it would have been It depends on how much dose we get from the state. ”
The state is working on a tracking tool that will provide the most up-to-date information on all doses of vaccines sent to Humboldt County. Humboldt County Health Officer Drs. Ian Hoffman said that current statewide tracking devices are underdeveloped and it is difficult not to determine how many doses are available in the county or available through providers.
Dr. “Some dosages are distributed directly to approved vaccinators and others come through public health,” Hoffman said. “A streamlined tracking tool will make it easier for us to plan future vaccination clinics.”
