Two Humboldt County residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19, and 64 new cases have been confirmed since Saturday’s report. A total of 1,648 residents of the county have tested positive for the virus.
One of those who died was in his 80s and another in his 90s. Both were residents of the Granada Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Eureka. A total of 71 residents and 28 employees have tested positive for COVID-19 at the facility. Ten residents have died.
Humboldt County Health Officer Drs. Ian Hoffman said that public health extends its sympathy to the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones to the virus.
To date, Humboldt County has been allocated 5,500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer and Modern combined). Public Health is currently working in partnership with Humboldt County’s health care community to provide the vaccine to health care workers in Phase 1 A-Tier 1, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine guidelines.
