As you may have noticed, the Battle Royale genre is as popular now as ever. Games like PUBG, Fortnite and H1Z1 have touched the hearts and minds of gamers, and several other games now include their own interpretations of the genre, not least GTA Online and Ark: Survival Evolved. Now, it seems Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is next on the line for battle royale treatment.
That's according to Valve News Network, whose latest video examines the CS: GO patches dating back to May 2016. Inside, the creator Tyler McVicker considers several references within each of the shooter's updates that have not yet arrived to the game, as compound arcs, combat with bare fists, adrenaline shots, rape charges, sonar pulses and MK2 grenades, among many other characteristics still absent, consistent with the battle royale genre.
Beyond the arsenal of features that VNN points to there, the mentions of the maps of_canals and survival_island (around the 1.20 mark) make it particularly interesting.
I would like to pass this to all CS: GO beyond. Can we expect a royale battle mode at some point in the line? Let us know in the comments south of here.
Thank you, VG24 / 7.
