State officials said today that New York’s rate of coronavirus infection remained steady at 0.98% on Thursday, the statewide rate below 1% for the 35th consecutive day.
The state on Thursday confirmed 880 new cases spread across 48 counties out of the 89,722 test results reported to the state.
New York has seen 442,791 cases of the virus since the onset of the epidemic. A total of 474 New Yorkers were hospitalized with the virus, with eight patients from the previous day.
Infection rates in central New York rose to 1.3% on Thursday, 1% on Wednesday and 0.8% on Tuesday, according to the state Department of Health.
An additional five people died in New York from Kovid-19 on Thursday, two in Long Island’s Safolock County and one each in Queens, the Bronx and Erie counties. The statewide death toll since the onset of the epidemic is now 25,382.
