Lexus introduces a new crossover SUV concept at. It is not a big surprise there. The SUVs are kind of a big deal, literally and figuratively, in the modern automotive space. But the Limitless LF-1 claims to be, according to the automaker's own words, "a new and surprising concept that reflects the next genre in luxury crossover vehicles."
The image of the very cropped claim that we have received does not tell us much about "the next genre", but gives clues about the design. We can infer that the vehicle will have an inclined rear window and tail design similar to that of the car manufacturer's RX crossover.
The design of the taillight is interesting because it seems to be an enveloping design that sits in the middle on an insignia of the center "L" that is illuminated in blue, perhaps a clue that the LF-1 will be a hybrid of Some kind. Meanwhile, the rear spoiler seems to integrate the high mount brake light and a cutout for a glass roof panel in its split design.
What the advance does not tell us is scale. It is difficult to deduce exactly how big the LF-1 will be when it rolls on stage. Personally, I'd like to see the automaker develop its smaller offerings with something fun likebut the Lexus version specifically refers to the LF-1 Limitless as a "flagship" vehicle. All the signs, including what appears to be an advanced rear-seat entertainment system on the claim, seem to point towards either a larger model located above the RX and RX L in the automaker's lineup, or at a glance in the next generation of those models.
We will know for sure when the Lexus LF-1 Limitless will make the trek from the CALTY design studio of the automaker in Southern California to the Detroit Auto Show in January.
