New York taxi drivers joined families of taxi drivers who committed suicide in the last year and in support of a new law that aims to stop the issuance of licenses in rental vehicles, including those of Uber and Lyft.

The Big Apple could become the first city in the United States to limit the issuance of licenses for rental vehicles with drivers (VTC), such as Uber, since the city council wants to approve a bill in this sense, applauded today for the taxi sector, which the competition is pressing.

The package of measures to limit the number of VTC licenses will be put to the vote on August 8 and, in all likelihood, will go ahead.
