Hernán Darío Gómez will return to direct the selection of Ecuador and will be presented this Wednesday in Guayaquil, as reported by the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF).
The Colombian Hernán Darío Gómez, 62, will be presented this Wednesday as the technical director of the Ecuador national team for the 2019 Copa América and the South American qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, reported the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF).
The presentation of the 'Bolillo' Gómez will take place at the headquarters of the Federation in the port of Guayaquil, southwest of the country.
The Colombian coach had already led Ecuador between 1999 and 2004, achieving the historic clbadification to South Korea and Japan in 2002.
Gómez "returns to Ecuadorian football, with renewed vigor and along with 16 million Ecuadorians will go in search of a common goal: to qualify for the World Cup" of Qatar-2022, said the FEF in s u web page
The Ecuadorian team will seek its fourth world with the 'Bolillo', who will earn approximately 1.3 million dollars a year, a figure that does not please a sector of the fans.
The Colombian coach moved away from the tricolor of Ecuador after the failure in the Copa America Peru 2004, in which that team lost against Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay in the first phase.
Two weeks ago, Gomez left the selection of Panama after the poor performance of the team in Russia 2018, which fell in the group stage against Belgium, England and Tunisia, as reported by the news agency AFP.
