Copa Airlines donates $ 50,000 to cancer patients with limited resources

The Panamanian airline Copa Airlines today gave a donation of $ 50,000 to support basic needs, such as food and transportation, of some 600 cancer patients who have difficulties in sustaining the treatment of the disease.

The donation, delivered to The National Association of Chemotherapy Patients (Asonapaq) will be employed to improve the quality of life and provide patients with more peace of mind, Copa Airlines Technical Vice President Ahmad Zamany told Acan-Efe.

The executive indicated that the funds of the initiative were collected in the seventh version of the Copa Tech Ops golf tournament, which brought together allied companies and suppliers of the airline, last February.

"Each year we support this tournament in order to raise funds , we seek hundreds of patients and their families receive social help in food, supplements and medicines, and support them in this process, and We hope that our contribution will be of great value to them, "said Ahamad.

The president of Asonapaq, Alicia Luaces, told Acan-Efe that the badociation is in charge of choosing cases of patients with fewer resources, to help them with notebooks. food for a value of 80 dollars and transportation with 10 dollars.

The general director of the Oncology hospital, Aníbal Villa-Real explained that there are patients who face difficulties and worries because they do not have the financial resources to support their families and pay the treatments to fight cancer.

"At the National Cancer Institute we try to provide the best treatment and medicine, but we also see how we can help them solve their family, social and economic problems, otherwise the treatment will not help" emphasized Villa-Real.

He argued that Copa, Asonapaq and the hospital staff constitute a pillar for the patients of the hospital, who are without regard to social clbad. During the ceremony, volunteers from the airline also delivered essential items, refreshments and shared with patients a "day of beauty", to reiterate their commitment to communities and the well-being of Panamanians.
