CS Video: Co-Writer Adele Lim and Producer Osnat Shurer Discuss Raya and the Last Dragon
Ahead of its release on Friday, ComingSoon.net spoke with co-writer Adele Lim and co-producer Osnat Shurer about Disney’s new animated adventure. Raya and the last dragon. The duo discussed how the world around them inspired the story, including their observations on the division in the world, and said the entire team knew that they wanted the film to be about coming together for the greater good. In addition, they share the need to explore what it means to “collaborate and be together with their differences, celebrating differences rather than eradicating them.” Shurer and Lim also talk about trust, environmental issues, and more about what the characters and divided lands mean for Raya’s journey.
The film will hit theaters and at Disney + Premier Access this Friday, March 5. You can watch our interviews now in the player below!

Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it is up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, throughout his journey, he will learn that it will take more than one dragon to save the world; trust and teamwork will also be needed.
Raya and the last dragon is directed by Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Raya, who will be the first from Southeast Asia to direct a Disney animated film. Tran stars alongside Awkwafina (The farewell), who is voicing the dragon named Sisu.
