CLEVELAND, Ohio – The game is on Friday night for Indians and twins at Target Field.
Earlier in the day the two teams and MLB talked about possibly starting at 8:10 a.m. on Friday as two players tested positive for coronavirus on the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals played the Twins at Target Field on Wednesday, the day before the Indians played a four-match series in Minneapolis.
The Cardinals announced on Friday morning that both players tested positive on Wednesday while the team was in Minneapolis.
On Friday, just after 4:30 pm ET, Indians and twins were cleared to play the game. The Indians will send Mike Clevinger to face Randy Dobank of Minnesota.
The Indians were behind in preparation for their pregame as they did not leave the hotel until they heard that they were definitely going to play. The ensuing locker room also had to be cleaned again.
Shane Bieber and James Karinchak won the Indians 2–0 in the first game of the series on Thursday night. Bieber pitched eight scoring innings with 13 strikes and Karinchak took his first inning in the ninth.
This will be Klinginger’s second start of the season.
