Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. out for game with knee injury

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. injured his left knee on the second snap of Sunday’s game, while attempting to chase down a Cincinnati Bengals defender following a Bakers Mayfield interception. Beckham was officially dismissed for the game.

In Mayfield’s first attempt of the game, he tried to force Beckham to pass under a boundary. However, the ball was deflected and picked up by Darius Phillips. Beckham switched to chasing Phillips the other way, but Phillips and Cleveland fullback crashed into Andy Janovich.

Beckham was then escorted to the locker room by the Browns training staff. Center Jesse Tretter also went down in the same game but returned for the next series.

It was the second consecutive game in which Mayfield had stopped on its first passing attempt. Minkah Fitzpatrick stopped Makefield for a pick-six in Pottsburg’s 38–7 victory last weekend. On Sunday, the Bengals converted Mayfield’s turnover to a touchdown on Joe Burrow’s 1-yard scoring run.
