China’s defense ministry has called the US a “destroyer of world peace” in response to an important defense department that said the country’s military buildup is intended to “revise” the international order.
Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Wu Qian told the Sept 2 report about China’s objectives and the relationship between the People’s Liberation Army and China’s 1.4 billion people.

“Many years of evidence suggest that it is America that is about to cause regional unrest, violate international order and destroy world peace,” he said on Sunday.
Qian said that over 800,000 people have been killed and millions displaced due to US actions in Iraq, Syria and Libya in the last two decades.
The Defense Department report of more than 150 pages to Congress examined the technical capabilities and ultimate ambitions of the Chinese military. It also analyzed China’s strategy towards Taiwan, an American ally that China considers a portion of its territory to be annexed by force.
“Certainly, a number of factors will determine how this course applies” the report states, which would have serious implications for the protection of undeclared, US national interests and international rules-based order. ”

The report found that China’s military outnumbered the US military in size, including its navy, which has about 350 ships and submarines, while the 293-member People’s Liberation Army is the world’s largest permanent army for 293 for the US.
It also said that China has built a considerable arsenal of land-based ballistic and cruise missiles and has the largest army of the world’s longest advanced surface-to-air system.
But Qian said the US should reflect on itself rather than issue “inaccurate remarks about China’s general defense and military construction”.

“We ask the US to take a fair and rational view of China’s national defense and military construction, to stop making false statements and related reports, and to take concrete action to protect the healthy development of bilateral military relations,” he said.
