Child who died of cancer honored in a children's book inspired by his obituary.

The book revives the humor and courage of Garrett Matthias

Garrett Matthias, 5, was a naughty and funny boy who always put smiles on the faces of his family and friends at the hospital where he received cancer treatments. When his battle against the disease ended in the summer of 2018, his family published an obituary that Matthias himself had written. He was, of course, full of his iconic stupidity and ingenuity. That obituary later became the inspiration for a children's book titled after one of Matthias's quotations: "Dirty, stupid, cancer!" Her family hopes that the book will encourage other children who struggle with cancer to never give up their struggle. Watch the video above to get more information about Matthias and the children's book that shares his unforgettable story.
