Chicago Cubs Lineup: Chris Bryant Returns!

The Cubs are riding a three-game winning streak and they got Kyle Hendrick back to Krrish Bryant for his second start of the year. Here’s how David Ross landed him against Sunny Gray and the Reds in Game 3 of the series.

Chicago Cubs lineup:

1. Chris Bryant, 3B
2. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
3. JV Badge, S.S.
4. Kyle Schwarber, L.F.
5. Wilson Contreras, C
6. Jason Heyward, R.F.
7. Ian Happ, cf.
8. Victor Caratini, DH
9. Nico Horner, 2B

After yesterday’s starting lineup, which sat with a left-handed elbow, Chris Bryant returned to third base and left tonight. He hasn’t really clicked in a game at the plate yet this season, but his defense is strong and if he’s feeling better, he’s probably ready to bend a corner (not that he has Tila would be a particularly good matchup with Grey on Gray).

In fact, historically, none of tonight’s 1-6 has had much success against Gray.

Cubs top order Gray

Bryant: 2-15, 1HR, 1BB, 3Ks
Rizzo: 4-7, 1BB, 2Ks
Baez: 1-10, 6 km
Schwarber: 3-11, 3L
Contras: 1-8, 2K
Heyward: 1-16, HR, 5K

In any case, Wilson Contreras is also back behind the plate after a regularly scheduled night from the previous night, and Victor Carratini continues to DH. Ian Happ also leads in the lineup, as Nico Horner goes down.

In general, the Cubs’ top of the order has been more or less the same through the first 6 games of the year, with the most changes occurring in catcher, second base, DH and the last three spots of the order (though this is also roughly) Only Contreras and Caratini switch spots and Hoener mostly on 2B). Fans of a consistent lineup, rejoice. This is what you are asking for.

As always, we will have your full pre-gamin post close to game time (5:40 ct).
