Chevrolet has adopted an unusual approach with the steering wheel of the C8, opting for a design of two radios.
Alex Misoyannis • Chevrolet has revealed the 2020 C8 Corvette Steering wheel, in front of the car's debut on Friday.
The American automaker released a single image, but there are a number of details that can be picked up.
The steering wheel is a two-spoke unit – a rare sight among cars today – with a square design that Chevrolet claims "improves visibility and comfort."
The upper section of the wheel has a black marker 12, complemented by seams that are probably available in a range of colors.
The center section of the wheel is a counterpart, more modern than the previous iterations, flanked by sets of black buttons for volume, cruise control and other information and entertainment functions.
The presence of metal shift levers seems to confirm that the eighth generation Corvette C8 will be launched with a series automatic transmission, probably the seven-speed unit built by Tremec that is rumored in April.
A basic "Stingray" version is expected to be driven by a revised version of the 6.2-liter V8 offered in the current "Vette, tuned to produce about 500 horsepower (373kW).
Chevrolet also released a short clip of 15 seconds of the next sports car, highlighting its aggressive and abrupt soundtrack to the tone produced by the aforementioned V8 coded in LT.
