LONDON – The developers of Cyberpunk 2077 are focusing on releasing new content for the game and fixing bugs.

Polish game developer and publisher CD Projekt launched the much-awaited sci-fi epic last month. It was the target of fierce criticism for releasing what many fans and critics saw as an unfinished game.

Cyberpunk was one of the biggest budgeted video games of 2020. But it was surrounded by a multitude of bugs and drops in performance on older consoles such as Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One.

The CD project tried to pacify fans with promises of refunds and improvement in the game. But that didn’t stop Sony from removing Cyberpunk from its digital PlayStation store, a move that many industry analysts described as unprecedented for the Triple-A title.

CD Prozac co-founder Marcin Iwski apologized in a video posted on the game’s YouTube channel on Wednesday.

“Despite good reviews on PCs, the console version of Cyberpunk 2077 did not meet the quality standard we wanted it to meet,” Iwski said. “I and the entire leadership team are deeply sorry for this and I am publicly adopting this video.”

He said, “Please do not mistake any of our teams.” “They are all incredibly talented and hardworking.

“Myself and the board are the final decision-makers, and this was our call to release the game. However, trust me, we never intended to do anything like this.”

Iwi issuesski reported that most of the game’s issues on older hardware were caused by its grand ambitions on PCs. Cyberpunk “is huge in scope,” he said, packing a “multitude” of custom objects, interaction systems and mechanics “in a big city and in a relatively loading-free environment.”

“We pushed ourselves even harder to make the game epic on PC and then adjusted it to consoles like PS4 and Xbox One, especially older gensets,” he said.

Ewiski said that the CD project was planned with the main release of free downloadable content or DLC, which would delay the main game as developers raced around to get multiple stitches and experience players.

The co-founder of CD Prozac said, “We decided to focus on the most important improvements and updates first and we will release the DLC later.”

He added that versions of the game for next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft would be released in the latter part of the year. Gamers are currently only able to play PS4 and Xbox One versions of cyberspace on the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X systems.

Shares of CD Prozac were up 2% on Thursday morning. The game maker’s share price has fallen nearly 38% since Cyberpunk was released on 10 December.

“We take this whole situation very seriously and are working hard to make it right,” Iwi saidski said on Wednesday. “The guiding principles of our company are still what we do that we still want to make amazing games and have an open communication with your players.”

In addition to the controversy over the botched launch of Cyberpunk, CD Project has also faced allegations of “crunch culture”, a common issue in the gaming industry that would see developers working long hours to finish games on time. is. Cyberpunk was delayed three times before its release.

“The team is working to bring relevant improvements to the game without any mandatory overtime,” CD Projekt Raid You add Raid here? Said in a news update on Wednesday. “Avoiding the crisis is one of our top priorities on all our future projects.”
