Cardi B’s hit single “Bodak Yellow” has been officially certified as a diamond, making her the first female soloist in rap to achieve such a feat. The tremendous achievement has been celebrated by a number of forces within the music industry, including Kodak Black, a man who heavily influenced the streams and the title of the single. The track interpolates the Kodak flow in “No Flockin”.

While Cardi has always given Kodak the credit it deserves for inspiring her single certificate with diamonds, the star was forced to clarify a few things on Twitter when a fan reviewed her and asked why Kodak was not receiving money from the song.

“He got credit for the song,” he clarified on Twitter. “We both get rich off the song until we die … The song is called Bodak Yellow for a reason. You whores get on this app saying the dumbest shit.” The post was shared on DJ Akademiks’ popular Instagram blog page, where Kodak Black “liked” it. The original tweet was accompanied by a screenshot from a HotNewHipHop article from a couple of years ago, in which Kodak praised the superstar rapper. “That’s my twin,” he said in January 2019, suggesting that if Cardi wins, he wins too.

Cardi B also touched on her relationship with “WAP” collaborator Megan Thee Stallion in a recent interview, explaining that she was “too shy” to contact the rapper for almost a full year.

Congratulations to Cardi B for turning into a diamond. And kudos to Kodak as well for being credited on a diamond single!
