The Audi RS6 Avant is the long roof of dreams, and being an attractive new car in high demand opportunists are already spinning to make a quick buck. However, dig into the sales history of some of the low-mileage examples now available and you’ll learn something surprising: It’s not just lone wolf predators that are playing the market. Canadian dealers also participate in the flip game.
No wonder the fins are in the case. The RS6 Avant, an autobahn stormer and occasional hint toy, includes a 591-horsepower V8, quattro all-wheel drive and Audi technology in a package that increases your heart rate just by looking at it.
What Road track Found out, Canadian dealers were among the first to get stock of the RS6 wagon. Some of these traders decided to invest them in auctions. Those wagons, which are now technically used cars, were shipped across the border to American dealerships. The practice seems smart enough: Canadian distributors made a profit without haggling with a customer.
Control Cars.com for used RS6 Avants and you will see many advertisements for more than a sticker. Some of these cars have so few miles that you’d think their owners took them home and put them up for sale right away. But CarFax checks will reveal that many of these cars were first registered in Canada before ending up at a dealership in the United States. Take this beautiful example for sale in Wisconsin:

Keep in mind that buying a recent vehicle that originated in Canada can bring some headaches. Although these are the same cars you can buy here, they sometimes have VINs that don’t show up in a DMV system. Some dealerships don’t even touch the cars that come from Canada, Car and driver reports.
While the RS6 Avants from Canadian dealers probably made sense at launch, now they don’t. Check the New box on Cars.com and you will find more new cars on the sticker than these used ones. So there’s really no reason to buy a low-mileage but technically used RS6 Avant that has had two or three previous owners.
