Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War looks absolutely awesome on the next generation of consoles with stunning detail, ray-tracing, and a smooth rate. If you want to push that frame rate even more on the PS5, you can do so, but it’s a bit tricky to enable 120fps gameplay until you know where to look. Here’s how to do it.
How to enable 120fps
120 Hz in Call of Duty: The method of turning on the black ops cold war, which you need to achieve at this high frame rate, is a bit strange, as it would look like it is disabled out of the gate. However, if you go to your settings of the PS5 and set your game preferences to select the display mode at the game’s default settings, it will adjust accordingly. To effect this you must reset the Cold War once.
Weirdly, we cannot turn off the setting in the game once we do so without having to re-adjust the global PS5 gameplay settings. You are not required to do this for most games, but Black Ops is a Cold War special.
To play games at 4K and 120fps, you also need a TV that supports HDMI 2.1. This is a relatively new specification for ports and cables, so anyone with an older TV can get stuck at 60fps.
