Bus passenger uses live snake as face mask

The man raised eyebrows on Monday during his bus trip to Manchester, England, when he was seen with an animal with an animal wrapped around its throat and mouth.

A passenger who witnessed the incident told Manchester Evening News that he initially believed the snake to be a “funky mask” until he started sliding around the handrails.

“It was definitely entertaining,” she said.

Face covering is mandatory on all public transport in the UK, except for those who are exempt from age, health or disability reasons.

Photos of the incident published online show that the unidentified man was not wearing a mask under a large brown snake.

The snake was also seen slipping on the bus railing.
A Transport for Greater Manchester spokesperson told CNN that passengers are expected to follow government guidance on face covering on public transport during the coronovirus epidemic, unless they are exempted.

“It should not be a surgical mask … “Travelers can make their own or wear something appropriate, such as a scarf or bandana,” the representative said in a statement.

“While there is a small degree of interpretation that can be applied to this, we do not believe it extends to the use of snakes – especially when still associated with snakes.”
