According to Haines City Police, a man’s bulldozer in the central Florida city destroyed several front yards and several Biden-Harris campaign signs.
James Blight, 26, was arrested on Saturday and charged with a grand email auto and trappings on Saturday, Hannes City Police Public Information Officer Mike Ferguson said in an email on Monday.
“Blight told police that he had been drinking whiskey all day and did not remember all day,” Ferguson wrote. “He said he couldn’t help but hit Joe Biden’s sign and in the process admitted to taking down a fence. Blight said he didn’t know how to operate the equipment.”
Ferguson said investigators learned that “Blight pulled out a private chain link fence and several political signs” and “city-owned speed limit signs.”
“It is absurd that a big man might think that he had the right to destroy someone else’s property based on differences in political opinion. The fact that he was driving this heavy device, that he did not know that How to work, busy roads down can be disastrous. We are thankful that no one was hurt in this case, “said Hans Allensky, Police Chief of Haines City.
Neighbor Cornelius Marion, who witnessed the attack, told NBC News on Monday that he felt he did not feel right after seeing the bulldozer.
“They revved the engine and uprooted the fence,” Marion said. He then saw her running into the yard and was signed off by the Biden-Harris campaign. “I thought: ‘It doesn’t feel right,” Marion said.
“I jumped in my truck and called 911 and followed him, and the whole time he kept falling down the street, he kept shouting at people, driving them out,” Marion continued. Going to run you
Then during a chase across the city of this slow-motion bulldozer – cars were moved behind a slow machine, Marion said – the suspect passed by another lawn with several Biden-Harris campaign signs.
“They took the front end and dropped it down and dug it up,” Marion recalled. “That’s where, at the same time, he hit the 15mph speed limit sign and dropped it down.”
Marion said the white suspect committed vandalism in a predominantly Black neighborhood.
“He claimed he was intoxicated, but if he was drunk could he steal and drive a tractor right here in the area, which is a predominantly black area? Operating a backhoe like a normal person do?” Marion said.
“I think he was saying, ‘I accidentally ran into something,’ but no, you intentionally dropped your front end loader at another house and you just went upstairs to their yard. So I’m a drunk.” Does not buy a share. “
Ferguson said the investigation was ongoing and Blight was arrested and taken to Polk County.
A Bay News 9 reporter posted a video on Twitter showing the family of one of the victims 20 more Biden-Harris campaign responded by signaling.
